Mary Yoest, LMHCA
My approach to therapy is guided by my training in Existential Phenomenology with Seattle University, a therapeutic orientation based on the lived experience of the individual as foundational to healing. I view the experience of being a person as holistic and unified, focusing on the connections between the self, others, and the world at large. My approach focuses on examining the meaning making we do throughout our lives and empowers the person to be active in this process. This mode of therapy is client centered, meaning I do not have a predetermined plan for our sessions. Instead we will work with what you bring to session each time.
I incorporate a combination of approaches into my practice depending on your needs. I most often utilize concepts from humanist psychology, mindfulness, and somatic approaches to foster curiosity and exploration into ones life-world.
As a person with experience living with a mood disorder, I am most drawn to working with those who experience anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and those who have experienced trauma. Together we can explore the wilds of being a human in this world.
